Willsboro's Boquet River Nature Preser ve Trail travels
through old growth floodplain forest along the scenic Bo-
quet River for an easy 2 miles. A portion of that is fully handi-
cap accessible, running through the upland forest, beginning
behind the old school at end of Librar y Street, while the trail-
head to the half-mile River Trail is at the end of Gilliland Lane.
Hike through the saddle of the North and South Boquet
Mountains on the Boquet Mountain Trail, an easy 5-mile
round trip through beautiful forests, andon the east side
of South Boquet Mountain, past intriguing rock formations,
continuing onto an old logging road. The south trailhead
is on Cook Road, three-quarters of a mile west of Leaning
Road. The north trailhead is on Jersey St. (NYS Rt.12), a mile
and half west of the Boquet River.
Penfield Pond Trail, near Ironville, west of Crown Point, an
easy 1-mile hike, runs through cool woods and beside a lovely
pond. The trailhead is on Peasley Road, 0.2 miles east of the
Penfield Museum.
Refresh and relax on a pleasant hike through lovely woods
and gentle hills on the McConley Spring Trail, an easy 0.8-
mile loop. The trailhead is on Tracy Road just north of With-
erbee.
The Cheney Mountain Trail, near Moriah, offers a hat-trick
of views with three scenic overlooks on a moderately diffi-
cult 1.5-mile round trip. Note the unusual "perched" wet-
lands (little mountain-top ponds) on the summit. The trail-
head is on Pelfershire Road, 1.6-miles west of Rt. 22/9N.
West of Ticonderoga, the Lost Pond Trail travels through
beautiful forests to the pond in an easy 2.8-mile round trip.
The trail is accessed through Putts Pond Road.
