Moose River Farm sits on 77 beautiful
acres off the Rondaxe Road in Old Forge, NY. Owned by Rod
and Anne Phinney, this cherished farm is also home to many
happy and beloved animals. Moose River Farm boasts hors-
es, goats, donkeys Bing and Frankie, a pot bellied pig, geese,
chickens, dogs, and most surprisingly, llamas. The Phinney's
six llamas include Lloki, born on April 24th.
Anne and her husband made the move to Old Forge in 2004,
from their original farm in Inlet, NY. There were ups and downs
over the years, but the two have created a ver y special place
for themselves and the animals that make the farm a must-see
in the Adirondacks.
Moose River Farm is your chance to get up close and per-
sonal with llamas, doing something called llama trekking. We
recently visited the farm and took the llamas on a trek on sev-
eral beautiful trails that are maintained on the farm. The lla-
mas seemed ver y social and calm, and enjoyed being led along
the walk. When we were there Bluff was ver y pregnant. Ev-
er yone on the farm was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Lloki,
who would turn out to be a beautiful male llama, white, with a
brown head and a small brown patch on the side.
Make plans to go to Old Forge this summer, and call ahead
to book your reser vation to trek the trails of Moose River
Farm with the llamas and owner Anne Phinney. As you arrive
at the farm be prepared to be greeted by several of the fortu-
nate animals that call this wonderful farm home.
The farm is open to the public, but by appointment only.
