There is no podium. There are no awards. Sometimes
there's no one to cheer a racer in at the finish line in Water-
front Park. If you ride into Northville after 9 p.m., you may
not see a single person on the street. However, the satisfac-
tion for a job well done grabs you emotionally nonetheless.
The website that names the record holders for men, wom-
en, and the Independent Time Trial (IT T) also provides a GPX
file of the route, available for download by the public:

In the first year of TATR (2015), seven riders started in the
Grand Depart, but only one finished: Michelle DuLieu, in 13
days. Her finish signaled that this challenging route could, in
fact, be completed.
In TATR 2016, my first race, I set a dubious record, which
still holds, for the longest time of any finisher: 16 days.
In TATR 2017, Shane Kramer set a truly amazing record,
which still holds for the men: 3 days. Even more amazing,
Shane rode a single-speed bike, and obviously does not sleep
much.
In TATR 2017, I shaved 5 days off my time to become the
women's record holder: 11 days.
Also in 2017, Michele DuLieu became the first person to
finish the course in an IT T: 8 days.
Five racers have completed TATR twice: Chris Yates, Jeff
Mullen, Mike Feldman, Michelle DuLieu, and me.
I attempted TATR for a third race in 2018, but did not fin-
ish. I knew the course well; I planned thoroughly, yet it never
occurred to me that I would not finish. Hubris! I had forgot-
ten the 50 percent finish rate. You just can't control all TATR
factors.
