It's a great place to stay, surrounded by many places to explore. With Gore Mountain and the Hudson River both less than 15 minutes away, the opportunity to spend quality time in the outdoors is endless. From skiing to whitewater rafting (not to mention mountain/road biking, hiking, rock climbing, bouldering, kayaking and canoeing, and even caving!), The Llama House is a perfectly located base camp to enjoy so many of the activities offered in the Adirondacks. Owned and operated by Dave Skibinski, a happy-go-lucky guy with stories for days, The Llama House start- ed in 2017, after Dave left his New York City life for a change of pace in the Adirondack Mountains. With both private and shared rooms available for guests, as well as plenty of common space, the house is a great place to gather outdoor explorers together for stor ytelling and adventuring. Dave is definitely a proud DIY'er, so the space at the house is constantly evolving. Bedrooms are themed around the beautiful nature that surrounds the house, and the basement has a hammock lounge area topped off with a big screen for watching movies. The wood-fired stove in the common space on the first floor invites conversation as guests lay out their wet boots to dr y or cook up some apple crisp in a cast-iron skillet. Dave also has the lounge space well-stocked with books and games, encouraging guests to mingle and get to know each other over a fun round of cards. Ever the good host and jack of all trades (he's also a whitewater rafting guide and lift attendant at Gore), Dave provides recommendations to guests tailored to their skill set and desired adventure. Up for a moonlit walk by Mill Creek on a cold winter night? Dave will join you for that too.
