Fall 2020 LOCALadk Magazine 7 LOCALadk Message From The Editor We are happy once again to be offering LOC ALadk Magazine in both print and digital. As many of our readers and supporters know, we made the hard business decision to only go digital for the summer issue. The numbers show it was a success, as many people accessed the digital version, and for that we are so thankful. That being said, we really missed the print copy. The pandemic and all its crazy tentacles are affecting all of us in so many ways. We hope and pray that we start to see a positive change and maybe even the beginning of getting back to a life less restricted. It is up to us as individuals and also working together at times to make positive change happen. Change has been a theme for 2020 for sure. Some good change but also a lot of difficult, frustrating and un- wanted change. We have all had to adapt to a new way of interacting in public—new rules and procedures. We also face uncertainty in what is to come. Despite all of this, so many towns within the Blue Line have pulled together and found ways to rise above COVID -19. The Adirondacks experienced record crowds this summer at places like trailheads and back-countr y campsites. Paddling shops found themselves busier than ever, with more and more people wanting the chance to get out- doors but also social distancing. People are turning to the Adirondacks as a place to "escape." I can honestly say that I caught myself on more than one occasion being frustrated at the number of people crowding areas that I am used to enjoying either solo or with just a few others. I am frustrated by the amount of garbage I have seen while either hiking or paddling. Why is it people come to the Adirondacks to enjoy the outdoors but then leave garbage behind. I know how fortunate I am to live here and I tr y not to take it for granted. Please do your part to help us all continue to enjoy the Park. Happy fall, Anne Brewer Owner/Editor
