10 Winter 2020 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk Who's Who Anne ANNE BREWER lives in Lake Placid. She is an avid outdoor sports enthusiast, kayaker, hiker, skier, photographer, and traveler. Anne earned a degree in International Business and Communications from SUNY Brockport. In addition to being the Managing Editor and Owner of LOCALadk , Anne guides for Adventures in Good Company, which leads worldwide hiking and kayaking trips for women. Anne is also a Real Estate Agent with Merrill L. Thomas out of Lake Placid. Eric ERIC ADSIT can't cross a bridge without looking for a river beneath it. He lives on the rivers, trails, and mountains of the Adirondacks and beyond, taking photos, climbing things, and writing about his experiences. He is a former Associated Press correspondent in Morgantown, West Virginia, and New York's Capitol. He authored two Adirondack novels — Within a Forest Dark and The River's Tale — both from Lost Pond Press in Saranac Lake. LAUREL CARROLL grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but has lived full-time in the Adirondacks since 2000 in the tiny hamlet of Chilson. A freelance copy editor for 30 years, she currently writes for Denton Publications. She is happiest outdoors, observing dragonflies and other animals and finding (and sometimes eating) wild mushrooms. "Nature is full of surprises. You never know what's going to happen next!" Laurel CEDAR YOUNG is a senior at Saranac Lake High School and is active in the fight against climate change in and out of school. In school, Cedar is the vice president of the environmental club, Green Storm, and the founder and president of the Political Activism Club. She is also one of two high-school members of the Saranac Lake Climate Smart Communities Task Force and was active in helping the group achieve Bronze certification in September 2020. Cedar Patrick PATRICK BLY is an ecologist and photographer based out of Upper Jay. He spends his free time hiking, camping, snowboarding, and capturing the beauty of the Adirondacks.
