LOCALadk 11 WYNDE KATE & TAMMY JOHN MEGAN BOB LINDA RICK Bob Dickie lives in the Town of Saranac, and works in Healthcare for his day job. Other times, he can be found skiing, paddling, biking and hiking in the 6 million acre playground he calls home. Because he lives in the Eastern Adirondacks and has a camp in the western region, he considers himself Adka- dextrous, and makes full use of these capabilities. Linda Waxman Finkle is a freelance writer based in the Capital Region, and the owner of See Something New Outdoor Adventures. In addition to a lifelong interest in science and history, she relishes traveling and all outdoor sports. Megan Plete Postol is a freelance writer based in the Adirondack foothills. Her writing focuses on people, places, and issues related to conservation, the environment, and the outdoors. Her column, CNY Outdoors appears in the Boonville Herald newspaper and she regularly contributes to New York Outdoor News and several other outdoor industry publications. WYNDE KATE REESE and TAMMY LOEWY, owners of Green Goddess Foods in Lake Placid, stay busy with their multiple locations. eir Natural Market, Café & Deli offers organic groceries, a sit-down café, and catering services for events large and small. eir Market on Main St. offers a grab-and-go deli and salad bar, plus organic grocery options, and their Nordic Café, Bar, and Waffle Hut at Mt. Van Hoevenberg provides skiers with healthy food and drinks in the winter. When not enhancing the health of their community, Wynde and Tammy enjoy volunteering for Farm to School and Global Arts organizations and exploring in nature with their families. John Scanlon is a retired NYS Forest Ranger who served for almost 30 years, mostly in the west Central Adirondacks, but all over the state with wildfire, search and rescue, and large incident management. He holds Forestry degrees from the NYS Ranger School in Wanakena and Syracuse ESF. John also worked with Wildfire crews nationally since 1988 and is qualified as a Crew Boss and Strike Team Leader. His roots are in Essex County going back into the 1800's, and in Rutland Vt. He is currently involved with the NYS Incident Management Team. John and wife Ellen live on the Blue Line approaching the Number Four area on the West End of the Park. A shout out to all his fellow comrades, Ray Brook Dispatch, and all those who do so much to protect the great park playground and those lucky enough to live and work there. Rick is a retired nurse who enjoys his abundant free time hiking, climbing, paddling, and camping in the Adirondacks, with an occasional trip out West. He also spends a great deal of time making furniture in his small woodworking shop. His newest project, inspired by spending time with Eric Bright, of BassRock Guitars, is to make a mandolin.
