We asked Chelsea Walker who is an Adirondack Licensed Guide and works with e Scenic Route Guiding company what some of her favorite pre packeaged camping meals are. Summer camping trips in the Adirondacks are a favorite pasttime for many and these meal suggestions might just make your idea of camp food a little better. Here is what Chelsea thinks: " I absolutely love backpacking. But one of the hardest things for me is definitely eating. I find that most dehydrated meals are just too big for me and a little hard to stomach. Sometimes I wish I was more like those who can just eat anything and be happy with it. But unfortunately, I am not. Now, I am not vegan, but I do tend to stray away from meals with meat in them just because most of them just taste and feel like rubbery, or spongy mystery white, or brown squares (beef or chicken). I can not, however, eat gluten. So that leaves me with limited options. Or does it? I have found some great options out there. Trailtopia is a brand I would compare to AlpineAire and Mountain House but with a bit more spice and flavor, like Curry Ramen, or Chicken Cashew Curry. I also like that they have a fair selection of gluten free deserts like Apple crisp, which honestly doubles as a great breakfast in my opinion. at's usually what I opt for for breakfast. ey pair well with coffee in my opinion. Another more well known name that I like is, Good To Go. ey have a some descent meals that only require a bit of personal pizaz from my spice missile. However, Nomad and Food for the Sole definitely rank high in my book. ey both offer delicious wholesome meals that suit all sorts of dietary needs (vegan, dairy free, gluten free, soy free, non GMO) and they are just darn tastey. Hungarian Goulash, while camping, Yes please! One thing I particularly love about Food for the Sole and Nomad is they offer lunch/ single serve sizes in just about every flavor. I always struggle to finish my meals while camping. Usually because there is too much. I have not found that to be a problem with Food for the Sole or Nomad meal's. I still haven't had enough of the Trailtopia to give a solid review on them, but I haven't been wowed with the few I tried like I was with every Food for the Sole meal. e Garlic and Green Bean Cashew stir fry is definitely my favorite. But I highly recommend any of their meals! ey prepare easily, need no extra love, and it's food that I legit feel good aer eating. You could honestly reconstitute these meals and plate them at home and impress your dinner guests! I am really excited to try their new Curried Cauliflower cold soak that just came out! Needless to say, all of these companies are easy to order from online. I highly recommend trying them!" DEHYDRATED FPO Review by Chelsea Walker 41 R E V I E W LOCALadk
