Q- How many different strains of CBD do you sell at this time, and what are the best options to ingest them? We're currently growing about 24 different strains of hemp. We sell a morning, recovery, and evening tincture, which each contain a handcraed blend of 3-4 strains per tincture. I'd say either a tincture (oil) taken orally or a dry flower vaporizer is best in conjunction with a topical suave for pain relief. Q- How organic, and natural is the growing of your strains? I understand you use natural alternatives to pesticides, can you explain that? We have a zero-tolerance policy towards the use of any pesticide or fungicide application. We have an IPM (integrated pest-management) system, which means we introduce different insects that are beneficial to the plants and/or that protect them from detrimental species. Q- With the upcoming legalization of marijuana sales, what impact would you project for CBD sales? I'd say CBD sales will at least stay stable, but will probably increase due to the non-psychotropic effects of hemp. Not everyone aims to get the traditional "high" or psychoactive experience. We have a number of customers who successfully use our CBD products to help symptoms of other chronic health conditions, and they all derive positive results. Q- What motivated you to start Hemp farming? Aer seeing the 2018 Farm Bill, the republican Supervisor of the Town of Moreau mentioned to me that if anyone should be growing hemp, it should be me. Obviously that got me thinking… why not?! is plant is viable in so many ways other than to get high. We haven't even begun to scratch the surface of hemps'/ cannabis' benefits. Q- What makes Living Soil CBD stand out from the crowd? First off, we're one of the only hemp-growers out there who are farming regeneratively, constantly building our top-soil by recycling other landscaping, farming, and nursery by-products. What's good for the earth is typically also good for us. Secondly, we're using a solventless extraction method which is really an infusion method (think garlic in olive-oil) - vs. other extraction methods which use volatile compounds or CO2, which both disallow for the hemp-plant's natural terpenes, flavonoids, and other beneficial compounds from ending up in the final product. We like the infusion method because it captures the goodness of the plant's fatty oils which is then coupled with the correct cannabanoid resin. It's beneficial to allow the natural ability of oil to absorb what's in it. LOCALadk 53 Story by Rich Ortiz & Photographs by Ethan Atwood CBD AT TOADFLAX NURSERY
