e spread that worked for me was to set up several of these jackers near an area that I was going to
jig and set up my chair so I could respond quickly to the jacked fish when they got hooked. I then
set up several HT polar tip-ups on flanked strategic areas farther away. e HT polars have an easy-
to-spot light bite setting wheel that helps me monitor these tip-ups, which are football-field lengths
away from me. With this spread I can cover an area where I think trout and salmon are present or will
migrate through to feed. By the end of the season, I was consistently hooking my share of trout and
salmon, with a personal best rainbow and a lunker 8-lb. landlocked salmon. For perch I use the same
set-up, but will drop down the bait 3-5 feet suspended off the bottom. I experiment with different
minnow sizes, but oen have the best luck with bait larger than what others are using for perch. If the
bite is slow, I swap the larger bait out with fatheads. is technique put me on many jumbo perches
over 12 inches last season.
