LOCALadk 11 RAY & JOE SCOTT Joe Murphy resides in Halfmoon with his partner, Nicole, and their golden retriever, Moose. He guides college students on their academic journeys as an Academic Advisor at the University at Albany. In addition to his love of the great outdoors and mountain climbing, Joe is an avid reader, writer, cook, and runner. Ray O'Conor abandoned his career as a bank president in Saratoga Springs to become a writer. He is also the CEO of a not-for-profit community development organization. His avocation is hiking and mountain climbing, having ascended hundreds of mountains and ambled along thousands of trail miles across the country. Scott van Laer is the Director of the Paul Smith's College Visitors Interpretive Center. An alum of the institution he has long been active with the college as a trustee and alumni president. He is a retired Forest Ranger, having spent nearly 25 years patrolling the High Peaks Wilderness. LAUREL PAUL Laurel Carroll grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but has lived full-time in the Adirondacks since 2000 in the tiny hamlet of Chilson. A freelance copy editor for 30 years, she currently writes for Denton Publications.
