Sneaking a peak at wildlife from a safe distance is the main reason I almost always have either
binoculars or a handy monocular in my pack or life jacket. When I paddle I usually opt for the
smaller monocular because I can fit it into a front pocket on my life jacket (PFD). I can honestly
say that I have had many wildlife sightings that I was able to experience due to being prepared with
either my binoculars or monocular.
I came across the company Nocs while shopping in Saranac Lake at Adirondack Hamlets to
Huts. I was drawn to the beautiful colors like indigo and juniper and the interesting grooved
texture of the product that make it very secure in your hands. I was then drawn to the statement
that they are waterproof and have a lifetime warranty, a win for sure.
eir standard issue binoculars are 8x25 and small enough to easily stow in a backpack.ey
also have the Pro Issue which is offered in 8x42 and 10x42. I also purchased the neck straps, which
I find very comfortable and handy so I can have quick access to them but be hands-free while not
using them.
We highly recommend adding these to your gear list.
