LOCALadk 46 and the rest is history! Parlor is an amazing company based out of Boston. They custom design and build each ski in-house for each specific client. It was super fun to make individual clients' custom graphics come to life again and again. I designed an estimated 60 graphics over the course of one year! Remote work was fun and I was able to ski almost every day myself. I have since stepped back from working with Parlor but will be ever grateful for the experience. I remain connected and open to future possibilities with Par- lor and the ski and snowboard industry at large. LOCALadk: Do you have a favorite graphic you've created for skis, snowboards, or kayaks? Any DIY graphic on your own skis or boards? Nate: My favorite screen printed ink work is my first, ironically. Its from the western shore of Lake Cold- en looking across a still frozen lake in the spring at Mount Colden. It was a scene I took in daily while stationed on patrol from the Lake Colden Interior outpost. The screen is still intact and printing well but starting to wear. It remains one of my most pop- ular. My favorite graphic thus far is a snowboard graphic that I pieced together for a Parlor skis and snow- boards client. It depicts my and the clients favorite things: mountains, waterfalls, rainbows, waves, a undersea view, and a whale. I completed it in 3 color- ways. I will probably continue to refine elements of it as I enjoy it that much! I have never had the opportu- nity financially to put my art or design under my own feet yet. When I do it will be a version of this graphic though! A favorite project lately is adapting what I have learned in ski design to the 3-dimensional surfaces of whitewater kayaks for Apex Watercraft. To have something I have helped bring to life on a kayak win- ning world championship competitions via paddler Eric Jackson is exciting to watch. There is a ton of po- tential in this industry graphically and I look forward to helping progress it with Eric and Apex. LOCALadk: What else are you working on? Nate: I have been developing logos for the individual whitewater kayak models as well as helping to devel- op custom graphics for the composite freestyle kay- aks. I continue designing event posters and merchan- dise graphics for esteemed outdoor gear store, The Mountaineer, in Keene Valley. On the fine art side, I have intentions of painting and printing a new series of six works over the winter in preparation for being the featured artist for a forthcoming high end coffee house called Capisce in Lake Placid in Spring of 2023. I am ever thankful to continue to be featured by and sell work at Gallery 46 in Lake Placid. Nate's work can be viewed on his instagram @nate_ jeffery _art and @n8_ jeff His fine art prints are available for purchase, both framed and unframed, at Gallery 46 ( @gallery46adk, gallery46. org) and the new Capisce Coffee (@capiscecoffee, capisec- offee.com) in Lake Placid.
