The Route:
Start at the Adirondack Lodge using
old Marcy trail to the cutover trail to
Algonquin hiking trail then to Wright
peak summit via hiking trail then down
the ski trail followed by a quick jaunt
over Whales tail ski trail to Marcy dam.
From Marcy Dam, ski up and touch Ava-
lanche Lake and then turn around head
back down to Marcy dam. Next up you
will slog your way up to the summit
of Marcy and then retrace your steps
back down the luge run of the Marcy
Ski trail. Once you reach Marcy Dam
(again)... get your kick and glide on and
ski the Marcy truck road trail to the Mr.
Van Ski trail. Take the Mr. Van trail up
to Mt. Van Ho nordic trails and from
there it's your choice of how to best
use the spyder web of nordic trails to
get to the Cascade Nordic center as
fast as you can.
The Grand Prize
So, you put in all the preparation to
train and plan before enduring your
own personal suffer fest…for what?
What does anyone who completes the
JLC get as an award? The three most
important prizes: bragging rights,
a great story, and a beer…that you
buy for yourself. Originally, the main
challenge was to complete the whole
route before last call at the Cascade
Ski Center's bar, but the center is now
owned by the Adirondack Mountain
Club and there is currently no bar. So,
pack your own tasty beverage for a
well-deserved award.
