It all started with a dinner date at our friends' new home. They had recently moved to Lake Clear, so my hus-
band and I visited for an evening of house tours and tacos. The conversation moved into the living room where
I would discover my new obsession: Acorn Whimsy.
What caught my eye was the cover of a coffee table book showing a little acorn figurine attached to criss-
crossed birchbark skis, flying upside down through a bright blue sky with a look of absolute horror painted
upon his face. I burst out laughing and asked my friend what on earth I was looking at. "Oh, that's Acorn Whim-
sy!" she replied with a big smile. "He's amazing." And amazing he is.
My focus immediately shifted away from my husband and friends and to the book, Acorn Whimsy: Winter
Olympics, a book I firmly believe is a masterpiece by artist, photographer, and Acorn Whimsy creator Jody
Hildreth. Page by page, my smile grew wider, my laugh grew louder, and my obsession with Acorn Whimsy grew
deeper.
My obsession turned into a deep-dive within Hildreth's website where I soon discovered the extent of Acorn
Whimsy's adventures around the country. After learning of his time spent in the Adirondacks with Acorn Whim-
sy, I knew I had to interview the Waterville, NY resident to learn more. Without further adieu, I introduce you to
Jody Hildreth and the one and only Acorn Whimsy.
