Buy one or two sizes up to get multiple years of use. • Our Rumple waterproof blanket continues to come out from winter through spring, making a nice snack spot in the woods or wet beaches. • My kids love their fish bowl habitat. It has a handle and a screen lid on top and they spend lots of time using it to sift for treasures in shallow water. • It sounds silly, but Vale loves his handheld metal detector. The one we have is waterproof and costs about $20 on eBay. • When we head out to play in "mud" or wet beaches, we also like to bring old kitchen tools. The boys will construct a mud kitchen anywhere we let them, and I have spent the past couple years buying up neat antique old tools from antique and vintage shops. • If you have personal property in the woods to build fairy houses on, check out bulk vintage dollhouse furniture on eBay. We have found some pret- ty neat items there for Olin's fairy houses inside logs and at the base of trees. We maintain these pretty well all spring and then gather all of the pieces before the summer undergrowth comes in. • Pack a sense of release. Let the kids get wet. Soaking wet jeans and socks looks uncomfortable to us, but in the end, why should it bother us? Come with the intention of them getting wet and muddy and be OK when it hap- pens. You got this!
