LOCALadk 5 A M E S S A G E F R O M A N N E LOCALadk Happy 10 year Anniversary to LOCALadk Magazine. Spring 2013 we launched our first issue and have been excited about the support and enthusiasm for our magazine ever since. We have proudly shared hundreds of great stories and photos from all over the Adirondacks. Our advertisers, both loyal from the start and new today, have allowed us to produce a quality magazine which we proudly make available for free, something that is harder and harder to do in today's economy. It is a lot of work to produce a quality magazine, but thankfully the rewards and privileges I get from meeting and working with so many interesting and fun people easily outweigh the work. For me, the highlight of the magazine and the past 10 years is hands down the people I have come to know through LOCALadk, many of whom I call friends. I have been proud to represent it and have enjoyed its success. In the case of LOCALadk, change is going to be a great thing. I mentioned in the fall issue that I was going to be welcoming Eric Adsit and Rhiannon Adsit to the team and that I was going to be taking a lesser role. I'm happy to announce my decision to reorganize our roles on the LOCALadk team: rather than these two supporting me, I will be stepping back to support them. Eric and Rhiannon will officially take the lead on our magazine's creative efforts while I remain involved in sales and logistics. I know they are the right people to take the magazine forward, and I will be there to sup- port them. They are bringing new creative and exciting energy to the team. Their combined talent will ensure the quality and their freedom to introduce fresh ideas will surely be exciting to watch unfold in the pages to come. Yes, change is going to be a great thing. We hope you enjoy this issue as we bring you stories of birds, bogs, and barbeque as well as a delicious recipe from the Good Bite, a next generation photog- rapher, a historic backcountry ski route adventure, ways to enjoy spring with kids, a trip to Kilimanjaro, and even whimsical acorn art. As always we love to hear from you, so if you have a story idea please let us know. Happy Spring, Anne Editor
