JANELLE Since moving to Saranac Lake, Janelle Jones has probably spent more time out of doors than in. To fund her obsession with skiing and paddling, Janelle has worked for various environmental organizations around the Adirondacks. When she's not skiing or paddling (or daydreaming about either one), she is happiest observing birds or searching for the best piece of pie in the North Country. AURORA Aurora Pfaff delights in living in Saranac Lake with her husband and spoiled cats. Working for a sustainable tourism non-profit, she writes extensively about local history, Santa, and stargazing. She has a Master's degree in English from Harvard University and is currently working towards getting her private pilot's license. SYDNEY A former professional ice hockey player from Southern California, Sydney Aveson, is an all-around athlete. As a part of her master's thesis, she canoed the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail. After graduation, Sydney guided in various locations worldwide, including Austria, Japan, Malaysia, and Canada. When Sydney isn't busy with her expeditionary pursuits, she is usually cooking something fun in her kitchen. She lives in Lake Placid with her husband, Chris, who is happy to eat all of Sydney's delicious creations. SANDRA Sandra Hildreth grew up in the f lat farmland of Wisconsin and went to college in Kentucky, before spending 31 years teaching high school art in a small school district near the St. Lawrence River. After retiring, she moved to Saranac Lake and finally became a full-time artist. Her first plein air painting had been from the summit of St. Regis Mt. in 1996 which is how she loves to spend her days - outdoors, painting the Adirondacks. SCOTT Scott Krycia is a professional photographer based in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. He discovered photography at age 10 when he went to a camera store with his father and was fascinated by the magic of capturing a moment in time. Scott has worked with companies such as Discovery Channel, Bravo, Warner Brothers, MTV Books, Harley-Davidson, and more. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Epson Pano Awards, Monoawards, and The International Photography Award to name a few. DAKOTA Dakota Inman, a devoted outdoor enthusiast, finds joy in backpacking, biking, paddling, and snowboarding. His love for the scenic trails, serene lakes, and mountains of the Adirondacks eventually prompted his relocation to Lake Placid, following a tenure teaching in his cherished college town of Oneonta, NY. In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Dakota passionately imparts lessons in English Language Arts, embedding a holistic approach to foster goodness in his students. NINA Dr. Nina Schoch is the Executive Director of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation, and has studied loons in the Adirondacks since 1998. A wildlife veterinarian and rehabilitator, she also has a master's degree in Natural Resources/Wildlife Management. Dr. Schoch practiced small animal medicine in the Adirondacks from 1991-2002, and is a member of numerous conservation and wildlife health-related organizations. She lives in Ray Brook, NY, with her husband, son, dog, cats, chinchilla, and alpacas, as well as whatever wild critters are currently being rehabilitated.
