SARAH While Sarah Keyes moved to Paul Smiths at the age of four she considers herself an Adirondack native and currently calls Saranac Lake home. She is a Sagittarius, enjoys extremely long walks in the woods and baking pastries. Sarah is a professional trail and ultra runner for The North Face, a nurse at Adirondack Health, and mom to Mocha the Minnie Aussie and Toad the cat. SYDNEY A former professional ice hockey player from Southern California, Sydney, is an all-around athlete. As a part of her master's thesis, she canoed the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail. After graduation, Sydney guided in various locations worldwide, including Austria, Japan, Malaysia, and Canada. When Sydney isn't busy with her expeditionary pursuits, she is usually cooking something fun in her kitchen. She lives in Lake Placid with her husband, Chris, who is happy to eat all of Sydney's delicious creations. PATRICK Patrick Carey has built his entire life around outdoor recreation. In his day job as a professional coach, he helps mountain bikers, cyclists, and endurance athletes find joy and surpass their goals. Patrick lives in Keene with his wife Rachel, where they spend every free minute biking, skiing, climbing, hiking, fishing, and enjoying this special place. MARK Mark Anderson is a professional photographer based in Watertown, NY. He began his photography journey in interior Alaska during his service in the United States Army, displaying the emotion and beauty of the journey of life and the majestic landscapes of the places he has traveled. His pictures have been featured in galleries of notable travel writers, various travel outlets, Virginia Magazine, the United States Army, and social media marketing organizations from around the country. JAY Jay de Jesus is a former professional mountain bike racer, avid nordic skier, and motorcycle adventure traveler. He's held national rankings, developing and manufactured his own championship-winning custom mountain bike frames, built race courses for the USA Cycling MTB Nationals, performing Lead Moto duty at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and was a cycling journalist from 1989 to 2015. Jay was a Ski Operations Director at Garnet Hill Lodge Cross Country Ski Area. Jay is currently a Physical Therapist Assistant. NEAL Neal Burdick is retired as publications writer/editor and professor of Advanced Journalism at St. Lawrence University, his alma mater. He remains a freelance magazine writer and book editor, focused on the Adirondacks. Also retired as editor of Adirondac, the Adirondack Mountain Club's magazine, he was for several years general editor of the club's guidebook series. He lives in Canton, NY, with his hiking partners, wife Barbara and labradoodle Marcy.
