TIM For 27 years, Tim Hoppey worked as a New York City firefighter stationed in East Harlem. A children's book author with another picture book under contract, Tim is currently writing a book of iambic adventures about hiking the Adirondacks with his son and granddaughter, some of which have appeared in Adirondack PEEKS Magazine. The story inside is an update on the Adirondack campfire story about the Faust Lumberjack. You can find Tim on the trails. ERIKA Erika Schielke lives with her husband and son in Glens Falls, their launchpad for climbing, hiking, paddling, biking, and skiing adventures. Summers at her family's camp in Long Lake fostered her fascination with Adirondack forests and wildlife. Now she is a Senior Teaching Professor of Biology at Skidmore College where she particularly loves introducing students to Adirondack ecology. She's also a local hiking and backcountry skiing guide. JENNIFER Jennifer Perry is a cofounder, project manager, and grant writer for Compost for Good. Jennifer also co-owns and operates River Valley Regeneratives with her partner — a food scrap hauling, composting, consulting, and market garden business in the Adirondacks. She loves helping fellow community composters achieve their goals through thoughtfully crafted project design and implementation. Jennifer can be found growing vegetables, traveling to remote northern places, and frolicking in the Adirondack backcountry that she is blessed to call her backyard. NEAL Neal Burdick is retired as publications writer/editor and teacher of Advanced Journalism at St. Lawrence University, his alma mater. He remains a freelance magazine writer and book editor, focused on the Adirondacks. Also a contributing editor of Adirondac, the Adirondack Mountain Club's magazine, he lives in Canton, NY, where he is a member of the community theater group Grasse River Players. He is vice-chair of the Board of Azure Mountain Friends. ASHLEY Ashley Treska was born and raised in the beautiful Adirondack mountains and is happy to be home again after many years away. She works as an elementary school teaching assistant and is a proud parent of a twenty-four year old son and twenty year old stepdaughter. She can often be found playing in the woods with her husband and her English Setter. She can often not be found hiding away reading a book, needlepointing, or practicing the art of hygge. KEN Ken Aaron has lived in Saranac Lake since 2006. A former reporter whose byline has appeared in publications including The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Albany Times Union, Ken now writes for a wide variety of clients both inside the Adirondacks and around the country as the owner of Great Range Communications LLC. He is married and has two children. NICK As a native Oswegonian, Nick Gunn spent every summer camping at Rollins Pond. After starting his career in New York City, the mountains came calling. Now, as marketing director at The Wild Center, he tells stories that shine a light on the work around their Tupper Lake campus. In his free time, you can find him listening to podcasts while searching for the best bahn mi sandwich in town. Nick lives in Saranac Lake with his wife, two daughters, and dog, Riggins.
