W H O ' S W H O ERIC Eric Adsit can't cross a bridge without looking for a river beneath it. He calls Lake Placid home and spends as much time as possible on the rivers, trails, and mountains of the Adirondacks and beyond. When he's not helping with LOCALadk, he can usually be found with a camera in hand producing films and photos celebrating the outdoors and the communities found in the Adirondacks. RHIANNON Rhiannon Berry Adsit runs, bikes, swims, and writes whenever and wherever she can, gets unreasonably excited about beautiful trees, and has yet to meet a dog she didn't love. Born and raised in North Syracuse, NY, she seeks to instill hope, empathy, and kindness (along with vicarious fandom for Syracuse University basketball) in her high school English students and beyond. When she isn't writing, teaching, or playing outdoors, she loves to read, play music, and spend time with loved ones. LOCALadk JOE Joe Williams is a founding member of the race committee for the Saranac Lake 3P. He first stepped foot in the Adirondacks in 1981 when he attended two weeks of canoe camp with his Boy Scout troop. It was love at first sight. A former news reporter at the New York Daily News, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Milwaukee Sentinel, he and his family split their time between Saranac Lake and the New York City area. ERIK Erik Schlimmer is the author of thirteen books and is the dude behind Place Name Dude, a research endeavor that's historically decoding 1,000 Adirondack toponyms. As he likes to say, "Behind every name there's a story, and the story's usually pretty good." Find him at placenamedude.com. TROY Troy Tetreault is a content developer at the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism. He also runs the @AdirondackBouldering Instagram page, where he shares stories about the community's history and culture. With years spent climbing, hiking, living, and doing research in the Adirondacks, he enjoys continuing to learn about the Park. MADDIE Madison Olson is a quietly ambitious teen living in Chateaugay, New York, or as she likes to call it, the middle of nowhere. She keeps busy by finding new books to read or writing her own book (that's yet to be published). When she's not doing anything too special, she enjoys simply admiring the nature around her. Although she hasn't lived in New York her whole life and intends to see more of the world when she's older, she currently calls it home.
