ere in the Adirondacks, summer is the fleeting season that
seems to burst forth overnight, just before the solstice,
then to disappear with the tourists in late August. But for
those few glorious weeks when it actually feels like summer, you
want something cold and refreshing to beat the heat. Here are three
popsicle recipes that are sure to make a lasting impression on the
young and old alike.
Growing up with my back-to-the-land parents, our popsicles were
one flavor, apple-strawberry, thanks to the cases of natural juice
my mother would order from her local buying club. The juice tasted
delicious, but beet extract must not have existed back then because
the juice was brown, so all our popsicles were brown, too. I had many
a friend turn her nose up at the sight of our homemade popsicles,
preferring the neon greens and oranges of the store-bought ones.
However, I remained true to my roots, even if I longed for that purple
tongue my brown popsicles never produced.
Well, here's your chance to taste the perfect balance between natural
and vibrant. I can verify that the Blueberry-Lavender will turn your
mouth blue! The flavors we've combined in the following recipes are
sure to stretch both your senses and your summer days.
