I t seems difficult sometimes, to get away from bad news and negativity. When that happens, grab a little LOCALadk. Here at the magazine, we're going to try to balance things out a bit. So rather than having a "jeers" section for things that bother us, we've created this section called Cheers! It's a special place to give a shout out, a thanks, or draw some attention to something good that's happening or something cool someone did. It's also a good place to say, "thank you," and we want to hear from our readers! If you want to send someone a Cheers! in the magazine, send us an email and let us know about it. If we can, we'll print it! Email info@LOCALadk.com Cheers! To the whole team on the Hanging Spears project for sharing their amazing story with us! And to Scott Martin for his incredible photos on this issue. Cheers! To all of the people who chose to adopt an animal from one of the many great shelters here in the Adirondacks. And thanks to Lisa Godfrey for sending in such an amazing photo of Darwin, a rescue dog from Tri Lake Human Society. It made us think twice about printing it black and white, and it's our first color back cover ever. Cheers! To Jim Sausville from Saranac Lake and Chris Burnham for setting out to paddle the 740 mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) this April, good luck guys! Cheers! To The Friends of Dewy Mountain for all their hard work in completeing the new lodge! A true testiment to the amazing things that can be accompished when a community comes together. Cheers! A very special thank you goes out this issue to the New York State Police and the NYSP Aviation Unit at Lake Clear/ Saranac Lake Airport, The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and the team at North Country Life Flight. Thanks so much for having us out to photograph and spend a few days with the amazing men and women from these organizations. We know they work to make sure all of us living here in the Adirondack Park are safer every day. You made us feel welcome and included us as part of the team while we were there. You're all awesome!
