GoPro Hero3+ Silver (with LCD Touch BacPac) By Kim Verstringhe Special thanks to Tiffen for sending us this great camera to test! Specs HD: 1080p 60fps Resolution: 10 megapixels Photo shooting speed: up to 10 fps Memory: MicroSD card Waterproof: Up to 131' Lens: Ultra-wide angle Cost $300 (Add $80 for accessory) Features Connects wirelessly for use with GoPro app so you can see live feed from the camera on your phone or portable device. Also compatible with LCD Touch BacPac for live video and touch screen control. My Reccomendation - 4 out of 5 Stars! My friend let me borrow one of the older generation GoPro to mess around with. After figuring out how to navigate through multiple menu screens and selections with the use of only 2 buttons and taking more than enough pictures of myself looking confused into the camera, I was able to shoot a video and take some non-accidental pictures. I wasn't too impressed really (I like to see what I'm filming/ shooting without having to load it into my computer first) but I could understand how people would like to use it to record their "epic" rides. The GoPro Hero3+ Silver edition changed my thoughts about GoPros completely. This is a super fun little piece of equipment and if you are guilty of "chimping" over your pictures like I am, you can have the immediate satisfaction of seeing your photos and video with the screen attachment on the back. Even without the screen, the camera has WiFi capability which enables you to see what you are shooting with your phone or tablet using the GoPro App they have available for free. It is also easier to figure out the menu with the touch screen control, more intuitive than just the two buttons. If you don't have the screen, the two button menu selection works as well, but why use that when you can control your camera with your phone through the app I mentioned earlier? Closing Thoughts Shoots great video, wide angle lens is very wide which provides a certain look to the shot. Easier to use with Wifi and GoPro App and LCD screen option if you choose to get it. It comes with 2 batteries, one for use, and one for backup. The batteries seem to last (the GoPro website rates an average of 2-3 hour life depending on how you are shooting)and hold up to cold weather but I would need more use for an accurate assessment. If you are into sharing your adventures with your friends and family (or just strapping it to your pet to watch their adventures, and yes, they make a harness for that), I would recommend investing in the GoPro Hero3+ Silver. It's a rugged little camera that's tough enough to survive conditions other cameras could not endure. This camera gives you great video and picture quality ensuring that your epicness and the epicness of others will not be forgotten just because there was no one there to see it.
