beginning right in a downtown or at a trailhead just a short car ride away.
Now, as a guide, I'm even more at home. The enjoyment that comes from
a good ski or hike is only intensified when you share it with others. I guide
because I love watching people finish the day with a satisfied smile on
their face. It is easy to impart the sense of pride that I have for the place
I live. There truly is no other place like it.
If you're interested in going out on your own, check out the Adirondack
Mountain Club's Ski and Snowshoe Trails in the Adirondacks by Tony
Goodwin for lots of great information about regional trails. A good spot
to start? Check out the access to Little Clear Pond in Lake Clear, NY. From
there, one can ski north and across Little Clear Pond if the ice is adequate
and into St. Regis Pond via the portage trail between the two. An option-
al loop of about 6.5 miles can be made by connecting with the Fish Pond
trail off a connecting trail at the far end of St. Regis Pond.
If you'd like more information or to join in for a guided day trip or over-
night excursion with St. Regis Outfitters, call 888-775-2925 or check our
website at www.canoeoutfitters.com. See Ad on page 13.
See you on the trail!
