7 Summer 2016 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk Eric ERIC ADSIT can't cross a bridge without looking for a river beneath it. While his mailing address is in Lowville, he lives on the rivers, trails, and mountains of the ADK and beyond, taking photos, climbing things, and writing about his experiences. As a whitewater kayaker for nearly half his life, and the founder of the online magazine 'The Dirtbag's Guide to Whitewater," he is now assembling a guidebook on northern NY rivers. Rory RORY KEATING graduated from Hamilton College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. He is the 2015-2016 intern for Biodiversity Research Institute's Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation. During his internship, Rory has greatly assisted with a variety of research, outreach, and organizational projects, including summarizing the results of the loon nest camera study to assess the success of nesting Adirondack loons. Rory's work over the last year has contributed to increasing public and scientific understanding about the ecology of, and conservation concerns affecting, the Adirondack loon population. Rory has enjoyed living in and exploring the Adirondacks and learning about loons and other wildlife that live in the Park. NINA SCHOCH, DVM is a wildlife veterinarian with Biodiversity Research Institute of Portland, Maine and coordinates BRI's Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation in New York. Nina Anne ANNE BREWER lives in Lake Placid with her husband, Peter Evans, his daughter Ellie, and their dog Juni. She is an avid outdoor sports enthusiast, kayaker, hiker, skier, photographer, and traveler. She has a passion for Central and South America and enjoys visiting places that are off the beaten path. Anne earned a degree in International Business and Communications from SUNY Brockport. In addition to being the Managing Editor for LOCALadk, Anne guides for Adventures in Good Company, and operates her own summer business: Placid Waters Kayaking. She's passionate about community change models and advocating for environmental and social justice. Every day she finds beauty in the natural world around her and excitement in life. She lives in Paul Smiths with her husband Andrew. Bethany Kathy KATHY SCOTT has canoed tributaries of the Churchill River in Saskatchewan, the Green River in Utah, and LaVerendrye Park in Quebec. She initially moved to the Adirondacks to work for the 1980 Winter Olympics. Kathy co-founded and managed St. Regis Canoe Outfitters.
