Starting a business in the Adirondacks is unlike starting a business anywhere else. In addition to the standard obstacles of raising
capital, finding the right location, cultivating an audience, and establishing a customer base, entrepreneurs with their sights set on
the Adirondack Park encounter a few additional challenges, including the seasonal nature of the region's tourism-based economy.
But these difficulties do nothing to diminish the lure of a life in the Adirondacks. Weekdays without hours-long commutes, waking
to the scent of cedar and balsam in summer, freshly fallen snow and wood smoke in winter, and spending evenings with family and
friends instead of office mates and takeout – it's a tantalizing proposition.
For three young entrepreneurs, the pull to start a new life in the Adirondacks led them to Old Forge, a historic resort, and a new
partnership.
