In 2011, the economic impact of the games was estimated to be $622,000. Thanks in part to title sponsor Community
Bank, this year they're pulling out all of the stops, with increased promotion, new events, and new venues.
As a result, event officials expect an increase in audience and excitement, more participating athletes, and a projected
$2.9 million economic impact to the region.
You can compete, AND you can watch!
Have you ever biked in the snow? Now you can! Every sport in the ESWG is regulated by its own governing body,
so the rules differ for each. However, there are many sports that are open to almost anyone! And it's not just for
kids; there are masters level races in a number of competitions too. All are invited to register for cross-country, ski
orienteering, snowshoe, winter bike, and marathon skating!
The games will be held at 13 different venues
The 2017 ESWG competitions will be held at 13 separate venues, and all are accessible to spectators. From nordic
combined at the Olympic Ski Jumps to snowshoe races at the Paul Smith's College VIC, and women's hockey at the
Tupper Lake Civic Center to big air competition at Titus Mountain, spectators are welcome to take in the action up close.
You can help!
Like many events in the region, their success depends on a certain number of volunteers. To volunteer for a specific
sport, contact the sport organizer at the email address listed on that sport's web page.
The best bet is to check the website at www.ESWGames.com for the latest news, sport details and a downloadable
spectator guide, complete with a full events schedule.
We'll see you at the next evolution of this long-standing winter event that continues to garner
regional support, to expand in participation, geographic scope and increased economic impact.
Let the games begin!
