63 Winter 2016 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk Eagle Creek Winter may mean traveling for some: perhaps to ski out west, or soak up some sun in the south, or jump the border to some exot- ic location. Regardless of the destination, it will no doubt involve packing a bag. One of our gear reviews this issue is a product line by Eagle Creek. Eagle Creek is all about travel - and this line is de- signed to make packing easier, lighter and way more organized. The Pack It Specter line offers products made of water repel- lant, anti-staining, ultra lightweight ripstop silnylon. Offered in a variety of different sizes, stuff sacks, toiletry bags and garment folders. They all help to organize travel gear. I recently used a few different colors of the cube set, which in- cludes three sizes, on a hiking trip to Georgia. I had a lot more space in my carry on luggage, and because of the color coding, finding what I needed was easy! Bottom line for this product: lightweight, organizes gear, long lasting, and versatile. When not traveling, use for camping ad- ventures or to help organize your gear at home. Slokker Ski Helmets Slokker is an innovative Italian company offering a very unique concept for a ski helmet that carries value, style, comfort and safety. Slokker has designed a unique and patented 4-layer po- larized and photochromatic (transition) lens with full-face view- ing that responds instantly to changing lighting conditions. Wearing a helmet seems to have become the norm for most ski- ers today. The market is flooded with various brands of helmets each offering something a little different. Slokker is the first to offer the unique shatterproof polycarbonate visor lens that pro- vides 100% UV ray protection that is built into the helmet. One feature that helped convince local retail owner Dave Doebler to try the helmet and later carry it in his store was that the helmets are ideal for people who wear eyeglass. Dave's store Eye Peek in Lake Placid is an optical store. Here is what Dave had to say about demoing the helmet; "Slok- ker Ski/Boarding Helmets initially interested us because the Po- larized Photochromatic shield is attached directly to the helmet and fits perfectly over Rx eyeglasses. The shield is also available clear. But, after trying it myself it is the most lightweight, com- fortable helmet I've ever experienced. It also has a sliding air flow control." If you care about your head as much as we hope you do, take the time to try a Slokker helmet. Gear Review
