Spring 2017 LOCALadk Magazine 31 LOCALadk I am LOCALadk Carol Marie Vossler Where do you live in the Adirondacks, and how long have you lived in the park? We have lived since 1979 in the shadow of Kate Mountain, in between Vermontville and Loon Lake. I attended Paul Smith's College and never left! Family: My husband of 35 years, David, and our children, Jeffrey, Kelli, and Thomas. What is your occupation? I am the founder and Artistic Director of BluSeed Studios. I am also retiring after 13 years as a full time Instructor of Studio Arts at North Country Community College What is special about BlueSeed? It is the vibe! Everyone is welcome! It is a place and space where diversity is expressed and com- munity is celebrated. BluSeed has something for everyone: workshops, classes, music, theatre, and exhibitions. What is the art scene like in the Saranac Lake/Tri Lakes area? The art scene has truly evolved into a vibrant community the last 15 years since the opening of BluSeed Studios. We have seen many new galleries, the establishment of Saranac Lake Art- Works and an influx of artists who have moved here, and set up their own studios in and around the Tri-Lakes. How do the Adirondacks inspire your art? How can it not? I am stirred by the changing light and the way it reflects off the mountains behind our home. I find "free art" everywhere. The light combined with the change in season offers you an endless palette to work with. Anne Brewer
