68 Summer 2017 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk With a feather-lite frame and a trail weight of just over three pounds, you'll forget the Nemo Dagger two-person tent is in the bottom of your pack. Although lightweight, it has bullet- proof poles and sturdy stakes – you certainly won't be blown away in the wind. Rain and stormy gusts cannot compete against the Dagger's rugged and waterproof nylon polyurethane Ripstop fabric. Condensation, however, is of little issue, as the material is ide- ally breathable. This tent is sold as three-seasons, but look no further for winter camping alternatives. The Dagger's water- proof bathtub floor will keep all moisture out, including snow. Searching for a roomy tent, to avoid feeling claustrophobic? The Dagger's interior dimensions are 90 x 50 x 42 inches, which means two six-foot-plus adults can comfortably enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The interior is large enough – verti- cally – to fully sit up without feeling cramped or hitting your head on the tent's ceiling. Additionally, two large vestibules provide enough room to store your bag, boots and any extra gear during the night. With so much space, you might even consider bringing your dog along on your next camping trip. The Dagger also features two separate doors that easily and quietly unzip to let you slip outside during a midnight bath- room break without needing to crawl over your partner. Whether you're climbing, skiing, paddling, or hiking, this ul- tra-lightweight tent offers quick and simple set-up, sleek design, and beautiful craftsmanship: qualities that make the hefty $400 price tag worth the investment. You can also pur- chase, separately, the tent's footprint to add longevity to the Dagger if rocky or hard surface camping is in your future. After first use, the only question you'll ask yourself is, "Why didn't I buy the Dagger sooner?" Here at LOCALadk we believe in adventure. There is nothing that can ruin a good adventure like a dead battery. Last sum- mer, as fun insurance, we had the chance to pick up the NOCO GB70 Emergency Booster. So far it has saved the day many times: it has jump started boats, camp trucks, a generator, and it's been a power source during a 20-hour power outage. The GB70 is a lithium-ion jump starter. It can provide 2000 cranking amps and can jump start vehicles with up to an 8.0 liter gas or 6.5 liter diesel engine. Features include non-spark- ing technology and reverse polarity warning, so hooking the clamps up to a 12 volt battery can be worry-free. This boost- er also has integral 400 lumen flashlight with seven modes (including emergency strobe), a USB port for charging cell phones or other devices, and a 12 volt auxiliary port. The GB70 can be recharged in just over three hours and will hold its charge for up to a year. What we like about this jump starter the most is its small size. It only weighs a couple pounds and is 8 x 6 inches. It easily fits in a backpack or under a seat. Don't let the small size fool you. During a midwinter power outage we used it to charge our phones several times and, using an inverter, powered a por- table computer for three hours while working on a publishing deadline! The NOCO Genius Boost GB70 has kept our adventures on track; we hope it can do the same for you too. Cost range is $175-250, visit www.no.co.com for more details NOCO GENIUS BOOST GB70 By Peter Evans Nemo Dagger 2 Person Tent By Tim Behuniak
