62 Fall 2017 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk Imagine if there was a single resource connecting all out- door activities throughout North America and beyond. Imag- ine if you could search for all the adventures in a specific region, or see them spread out on a map. Imagine if it were free. This is Outdoor Project (found at outdoorproject.com), the fastest growing website of its kind. Featuring high qual- ity, curated images, detailed adventure guides, and custom maps, Outdoor Project is the answer to the age old question: " What should we do this weekend? " In 2013 Outdoor Project was created to inspire. Their mis- sion is "To create the most intuitive, comprehensive, and inspiring outdoor adventure resource. Ever." The website has been built from the ground up by outdoor enthusiasts seeking to make a genuine connection with other outdoor enthusiasts. As such, it accommodates all facets of outdoor adventure, from the planning phase, to actually enjoying a trip, and even to connecting with the outdoor community af- ter the adventure through trip reports or reviews. There are tons of books, pamphlets, and maps with sugges- tions for where to camp, hike, bike, or paddle. But so few bun- dle all of these (and more) into a single, searchable platform. Outdoor Project has 19 different adventure categories, includ- ing swim- ming holes, ice skat- ing, campgrounds, hot springs, backcoun- tr y skiing, and ever ything in between. There are over 5,500 adventures current- ly published, with more being added ever y single day. While this may sound over whelming, Outdoor Project makes it easy to sort through the adventures to find what you're most interested in, whether it's by choosing specific types of adventures, searching only those within a certain region, or just pulling up a map and seeing all the adventures laid out there. You can even create a bucket list of adventures by adding them to your "to-do" list. Through it all, gorgeous photos and curated write-ups bring the adventures to life.
