He's loved the Adirondacks and the outdoors from a young age and his middle name is after a local mountain. They met in 2001 while working at a vegetarian restaurant in Keene Valley, and instantly became friends. Sharing a passion for healthy food and a love of the outdoors, they merged their expertise in 2004 by creating Green Goddess Foods. Pioneers of the Adirondack Farm to Table movement, they were vendors at the first Lake Placid Farmer's Market, where they sold prepared foods using local seasonal ingredients. In 2007 they expanded their business by opening Green Goddess Natural Foods in Lake Placid. In 2013, they expanded again and reopened in their current location at 2051 Saranac Ave. The store includes a café, deli, nutrition counseling, and catering services, and offers Veggiecation classes in local schools. Reese holds a BS in Holistic Nutrition and Loewy manages the café and catering departments. The mission of Green Goddess is to provide healthy and delicious local and organic foods to North Country residents and vacationing customers. She enjoys paddling, hiking, cycling, motorcycling, and skiing, and according to Instagram, taking selfies with her dog. But mostly, she's pleased and proud that it's her job to promote the amazing Adirondack destination experience for the economic benefit of those of us who are fortunate to call the region home. Kim ALVIN REINER sought a peaceful hermitic existence, and decided to go to the NYS Ranger School to get paid to be a recluse. After working for the NYS DEC from 1964 to 1971, he earned a forestry degree at Utah State and lived on the Navajo Reservation in SE Utah for 12 years teaching in elementary school and working as an EMT, journalist, and photographer. After returning to the Adirondacks in 1987 he taught at ELCS and as an adjunct professor at Plattsburgh State. Currently, he writes and photographs for the Plattsburgh Press Republican and other publications. In 2015 and 2016 Reiner garnered NYS Press Association awards for photography.
