Green Goat Maps There are three great new maps now available at many lo- cal businesses. These maps were created by Saranac Lake- based Green Goat Maps in partnership with Adirondack Re- search, which does GIS mapping and environmental research worldwide. One of the maps is of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake Win- ter Trails. It includes the Jackrabbit Ski Trail and Nordic ski centers as well as additional trails ideal for cross countr y ski- ing and snowshoeing. The detailed inset maps include Paul Smith's VIC, Dewey Mountain, ADK Mountain Club, Cascade Cross Countr y Ski Center, Peninsula trails, Henr y's Woods, Heaven Hill, Hayes Brook, and Craig Wood. The second map is a Lake Placid and Saranac Lake Cycling map, which includes routes in Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Wilmington, and Whiteface Mountain. Routes focus on cy- cle-friendly roads and gravel rides. Knowing the elevation gain and loss may feel like a double-edged sword but this map keeps you honest and informed with accurate data. The third map is Saranac Lake Boating and Fishing, which covers from Middle Saranac to Lower Saranac, Oseetah, Ki- wassa, and Lake Flower. Features include marina locations, campsites, picnic areas, lake depth, rocks, and aquatic vege- tation. It includes essentially ever ything but the fish! These maps are designed to be used, so please do not han- dle with care. They're built to make it easier to follow your passion to get outdoors and explore some new territor y: have your adventure – but know where you are! The maps are tough and can handle it, so go crazy and have fun exploring. www.greangoatmaps.com goodr Sunglasses Sunglasses don't have to be expensive to be good. We found these really cool sunglasses while attending the out- door expo in Saratoga this spring. They are marketed to- wards runners but we think they are perfect for many Ad- irondack adventures. These glasses are polarized, don't slip or bounce, and, bonus, they look good. What surprised us the most was the cost: $25-35. This means they're not only styl- ish, but also affordable. We have been demo-ing a few pair all spring, and are sold. Goodr has a great sense of humor as well, as you can see on their website, the packaging, and in any communication you have with them. With names like Iced by Yetis, Swedish Meatball Hangover, Mick and Keith's Midnight Ramble, and Falkor's Fever Dream – how can you not like them? If you are looking for a fun, functional, and affordable pair of sunglasses for summer adventure we recommend you check out www.goodr.com and pick out a pair that speaks to your personality. At $25 bucks if you loose them while jump- ing in the lake it was probably worth it.
