A cornucopia of brilliant color takes over the Adirondack Mountains and forests every fall. Combine this with thousands of lakes and rivers for radiant views of pristine water reflecting bright foliage. One of the best ways to take in this scenic beauty of bursting color is to tour the region by car or bike. The Adirondacks has no shortage of majestic views or smooth, winding roads perfect for touring. Sit back, take stops and many pictures along the way, and enjoy the immersive nature of the Adirondacks in the fall. WILMINGTON NOTCH MAIN STREET IN SARANAC LAKE This short tour through downtown offers a magnificent blend of mountain views and bustling town life. Hop out of the car to enjoy the architecture and shopping, and don't miss the colorful views from the shore of Lake Flower. STATE RT. 30 IN TUPPER LAKE Cross the scenic Moody Bridge, "the Flow," on Route 30 and head toward Long Lake. The route passes Raquette River Outfitters, Tupper Lake Golf Club, and Round Lake state boat launch which provides beautiful views of foliage reflected on the water. RT. 374 TO CHATEAUGAY LAKE A tree-lined route with the Adirondacks as a backdrop that takes you along Chateaugay Lake, a great place for a swim or paddle. Make sure to pick up a freshly baked treat from a farm stand on the way.
