Tim Rowland is a humor columnist and New York Times bestselling author whose most recent book,
Strange and Obscure Stories of Washington, DC, was released by Skyhorse Press, New York, NY, in March.
Tim and his wife Beth live in Jay.
Saranac Lake resident Phil Brown is the author of Adirondack Paddling: 65 Great Flatwater Adventures
and several hiking guidebooks. He retired in 2018 as the longtime editor of the Adirondack Explorer
newsmagazine. When not writing, Phil is usually doing something important such as hiking, canoeing,
backcountry skiing, or rock climbing.
Doug Haney is the owner and founder of Bike Adirondacks. Before that, he worked with the
Women's Sports Foundation and U.S. Ski Team, a career that included five Olympic Games.
He lives in Saranac Lake with his wife, Kat, and their two wonderfully grubby little girls,
Gwen and Liesl.
Olivia Dwyer lives in Upper Jay. She can be found exploring Adirondack trails with her beagle Pan, one
sniff at a time.

Laurel Carroll grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but has lived full-time in the Adirondacks since 2000 in the
tiny hamlet of Chilson. A freelance copy editor for 30 years, she currently writes for Denton Publications.
She is happiest outdoors, observing dragonflies and other animals and finding (and sometimes eating) wild
mushrooms. "Nature is full of surprises. You never know what's going to happen next!"
Paul Sorgule is a long time Adirondack chef, culinary educator, restaurant consultant and trainer, and author.
Culinary Olympic Gold Medal winner, 2001 National Culinary Educator of the Year, and author of two
novels, Paul is passionate about good food and its sources. His blog: www.harvestamericacues.com has been
viewed and shared by nearly 1.5 million readers. He lives with his wife, Sharon, in Saranac Lake, where they
raised three children and now enjoy visiting their six grandkids.
