LOCALadk | Artist Carl Rubino - Unique Fine Art Photography Interpretive, Impressionistic and Abstract Landscape and Urban Fine Art Photography At age 5, Carl Rubino's mother played classical music and told him that if he closed his eyes he could "see" the music. He did, and that has compelled him to see, feel and create work far different than the literal or documentary photographic image, concentrating instead on creating interpretive, impressionistic and abstract images that relate his personal vision and feel of a subject or theme. His work includes landscape, water, urban, street photography, and anything else that captures his interest. In short, he interprets life's visual symphonies, one click at a time. Even his more "literal" landscape photographs tend to carry his unique interpretation of a subject, rather than a photographic reproduction. Rubino says his photographs consist of three different points of view: the raw material that is the literal subject matter of the image; what he sees and senses – and hopes to portray – when he experiences that subject matter and interprets it with his camera and processing; and how the viewer interprets or experiences the work when looking at the image. Those may be three very distinct views of what is, essentially, rooted in the same thing. That, he says, is stimulating art. And that is the greatest part of what draws him to photography. His work has shown extensively in solo exhibitions and juried shows in the Adirondacks, northern New York and Vermont and has been featured in International juried photography exhibits, in curated shows and in a permanent museum collection.
