LOCALadk 13 CHRIS JERROD KAYLA Kayla White is the Adirondack Mountain Club's stewardship manager and oversees the Summit Stewardship Program, which she has been a part of since 2014. She is also on the board of e Waterman Fund and Board Chair of Adirondack Wilderness Advocates. Chris Maron earned a master's degree in environmental science from Indiana University, worked with e Nature Conservancy for 25 years, and in 2009 helped establish and become the first executive director of Champlain Area Trails. He enjoys advancing its mission of making trails and saving land in New York's Champlain Valley. Jerrod comes from generations of avid outdoorsman. He started out rock hopping pint-sized Adirondack streams in onesie pajamas while pursuing 4-inch brook trout. He also enjoys pursuing mature bucks with archery equipment and drilling holes in the hardwater in search of what swims beneath. Jerrod is the outdoor columnist for the Amsterdam Recorder, feature writer for New York Outdoor News and member of NYSOWA (New York State Outdoor Writers Association). Jerrod has a passion for eclectic and elegant cuisine from all over the globe and a palate to match. LAUREL PAUL Laurel Carroll grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but has lived full-time in the Adirondacks since 2000 in the tiny hamlet of Chilson. A freelance copy editor for 30 years, she currently writes for Denton Publications. She is happiest outdoors, observing dragonflies and other animals and finding (and sometimes eating) wild mushrooms. "Nature is full of surprises. You never know what's going to happen next!" Paul Sorgule is a long time Adirondack chef, culinary educator, restaurant consultant and trainer, and author. Culinary Olympic Gold Medal winner, 2001 National Culinary Educator of the Year, and author of two novels, Paul is passionate about good food and its sources. He lives with his wife, Sharon, in Saranac Lake, where they raised three children and now enjoy visiting their six grandkids.
