SEAN Sean Platt is a local freelance writer and photographer based in Saranac Lake. Chances are you will find him somewhere on a river trying to fool fish with a f ly or roaming the forests with his wife and two pups. More of his work can be found at w w w.seanplattphotography.com. CHARLIE Charlie Reinertsen lives in Saranac Lake. Always chasing his next salamander sighting, Charlie is the host and producer of the Saranac Lake Hootenanny and founder of the Northern Peatlands Project. You can learn more about his work and sign up for monthly stories from the field by visiting twolined.com. KENNY Kenny Boettger has lived in the Adirondacks since 1977. He has been in the bike industry since the late 70's and co-founded Placid Planet Bicycles 30 years ago. It is doubtful that he is employable in any other industry. In addition to all things bike related, he is an avid alpine skier and loves good food and travel adventures. If he is not at work, he is playing outside. SIOBHAN Born and raised in Canada, Siobhan didn't move to the Adirondacks until 2013 after achieving her Degree in Ecology at SUNY Plattsburgh. She's a former-raft-guide-turned-photographer and a slightly obsessed sourdough-bread maker. Most of all she is the mother to Ceallaigh and Georgia - to whom she is passing along her passion for nature and adventure by having them help raise chicken, run bare- bummed into ADK waters, and live as much out-of-doors as possible. ASHLEY Ashley was born and raised in the beautiful Adirondack mountains, and is happy to be home again after many years away. She works as an elementary school teaching assistant, and is a proud parent of a twenty-three year old son and nineteen year old stepdaughter. She can often be found playing in the woods with her husband and her English Setter. She can often not be found hiding away reading a book, needlepointing, or practicing the art of hygge. PHIL Phil Brown edited the Adirondack Explorer for 19 years before retiring in 2018. He is the author of Adirondack Paddling: 65 Great Flatwater Adventures and publisher of Adirondack Birding: 60 Great Places to Find Birds. He also collected and annotated the regional writings of Bob Marshall in Bob Marshall in the Adirondacks. He continues to write for the Explorer and other publications. When not at the computer, he's doing something important such as climbing a slide, skiing the Jackrabbit Trail, or riding the BETA trails. ELISABETH Elisabeth "Liz" Lorentzsen has been coming up to the Adirondacks her entire life to her family camp in Big Moose, permanently settling here after graduating from college. She currently is a Spanish teacher in Low ville, and also writes in any spare time she can find. Liz loves being inspired by the beautiful natural world around us, and hopes to publish a poetry collection soon.
