The other piece that makes the Hoot special are the
films that I'm putting together through my production
company, Twolined Studio. Featured Artist sets are
filmed every week. And on the first Monday of every
month, the entire open mic session is filmed as well.
I donate the films free of charge, in the hopes that
these recordings will raise awareness of the phenom-
enal talent in this area, and help local musicians build
their portfolio and book bigger venues and shows.
Is there a way for someone to find the Hootenanny
recordings?
Every Featured Artist set, as well as the monthly open
mic performances, can be found by visiting twolined.
com/hoot and by following The Garagery's Youtube
Channel. Artists are encouraged to download their set
and share it on their own platforms to promote their
music.
As the Hoot approaches its one-year anniversary
this fall, what has surprised you about this event?
Before starting the Hoot, I thought I had a pretty good
grasp on the music community, but now I'm realizing I
was only aware of the tip of the iceberg. Every week,
new artists come out of the woodwork and blow our
audience away with their talent.
Another fun surprise– –something I was hoping for,
but you can't count on– –has been the community
we've been building together.
We have listeners and musicians returning week after
week, and newcomers always receive a warm welcome
regardless of whether they are taking the stage or
warming a barstool to enjoy the night's music.
