SIOBHAN Siobhan Monahan is a local photographer whose work is deeply rooted in whitewater, skiing at Gore Mountain, and life along the Hudson River Gorge. She strives to produce images that ref lect real life, both on and off the river. Her life is shaped by the place, the people, and the community's rhythm. Off the water, she loves being home with her family, tending a small chicken farm, making bread, and settling into the quieter f low of everyday life. Find her on Instagram @livethemountainriverlife. PAUL Paul Post has covered Adirondack pro hockey in Glens Falls for The Saratogian since 1995. He has written sports, news and human interest freelance articles for more than 60 publications and has authored three books. He and his better half, Bonnie, and their cat, Popper, live in Glens Falls; are avid sports fans; and enjoy travel, nearing completion of their goal to visit every U.S. state capital. BETHANY Bethany is a writer, mountain athlete and experiential educator. She is the first woman to achieve 100 Fastest Known Times (FKTs). In 2020, she and Katie Rhodes became the first women to climb all 46 Adirondack High Peaks unsupported. Her writing has been published in LOCALadk, Trail Runner and Outside magazines and in the short story collection Blood Sweat Tears. Adams is a proud community ambassador for SheJumps, a non- profit organization that works to provide more women and girls access to the outdoors. GEORGE George Cassidy Payne is a writer, poet, and Adirondack journalist based in Upstate New York. He has taught philosophy at local colleges, works as a crisis counselor, and spends much of his free time exploring the forests and waterways of New York State, documenting the wildlife and ecosystems that shape the region. CAROLYN Carolyn Walton is a wilderness professional, poet, storyteller, girls lacrosse coach for Saranac Lake Central School District, and the president of High Peaks United, a Not-For-Profit which runs adult recreation sport leagues to create healthy connection through play. She resides in Saranac Lake and holds her space living here as a steward in high regard. She grew up in Syracuse, NY, received a public education, and graduated with a degree in Political Science from SUNY Cortland. CURT Curt Stager is a scientist, educator, and author whose research deals with climate change, human interactions with the natural world, and environmental history. His work has been published in Science, National Geographic, and The New York Times as well as in award-winning books, most recently "The First Adirondackers: 12,000 Years of Human Presence in the Adirondack Uplands." He currently teaches natural sciences and holds an endowed research chair at Paul Smith's College. In 2013, the Carnegie-Case Foundation named him Science Professor of the Year for New York State. NATHANIEL Nathaniel Atkinson is the Resident Guideboat Builder at the ADKX and owner of Atkinson ADK Craft. He lives and works in Saranac Lake where he restores and builds Adirondack Guideboats between his skiing and paddling adventures.
