ALISON Alison Banuski is a self-taught maker and the hands behind Burl Theory, home to a merry medley of slow- crafted goods (lately, stained glass!) inspired by the Adirondacks. Based in Saranac Lake, she takes her cues from nature's palette, light, and deliberate pace. When she's not at her workbench, you'll find her on a trail or in a canoe. See her work locally at Heartwood Studios, or say hi at @burltheory and burltheory.com. GEORGE George Cassidy Payne is a writer, poet, and Adirondack journalist based in Upstate New York. He has taught philosophy at local colleges, works as a crisis counselor, and spends much of his free time exploring the forests and waterways of New York State, documenting the wildlife and ecosystems that shape the region. PAUL Paul Post has written sports, news and human interest freelance articles for more than 60 publications and has authored three books – two sports biographies and "Soldiers of Saratoga County" (The History Press). He and his better half, Bonnie, and their cat, Popper, live in Glens Falls. They enjoy travel and have visited many historical points of interest throughout the U.S. PHIL Phil Brown edited the Adirondack Explorer for 19 years before retiring in 2018. He is the author of Adirondack Paddling: 65 Great Flatwater Adventures and publisher of Adirondack Birding: 60 Great Places to Find Birds. He also collected and annotated the regional writings of Bob Marshall in Bob Marshall in the Adirondacks. He continues to write for the Explorer and other publications. When not at the computer, he's doing something important such as climbing a slide, skiing the Jackrabbit Trail, or riding the BETA trails. JOHN John Curtis recently moved to Saranac Lake with his wife, Judy, to enjoy winter sports like Alpine skiing and curling. Both lifelong professional musicians, they have been warmly welcomed into the vibrant musical community here. John is the organist and music director at St. Eustace Church in Lake Placid and plays piano and harpsichord in numerous venues in the area. He and Judy are currently trying to find a life balance between music and enjoying the outdoor experiences the Adirondacks have to offer. PATRICK Patrick Carey has built his entire life around playing outside. As a full-time coach, he loves working with athletes focused on skills development and endurance sports performance. Patrick lives in Keene with his wife Rachel, where they spend every free minute biking, skiing, climbing, hiking, fishing, and enjoying this special place.
