Paradox Brewery, located in Schroon Lake, opened its doors in 2013
after more than a year and a half of blood, sweat, and beers. Partners
Paul Mrocka, David Bruce, and Vaughn Clark, with the help of friends
and family, renovated the old South Schroon Lake Post office into
a working 1400 square foot microbrewery. Mark started creating
homebrew back in 1984, mostly sharing it with friends, who later
encouraged him to take it to the next level. So around a campfire at
Paradox Lake, Paul and Dave realized their shared passion and decided
to get serious about brewing beer.
Paradox Brewery holds a New York State Farm Brewers license; under
this license it is required to use 20% locally grown ingredients, such
as hops and barley.
The signature beers that are produced by Paradox and distributed
by Saratoga Eagle are their Paradox Red Ale, Beaver Bite IPA, and
Paradox Pilsner. They also brew seasonal ales; when you visit their
tasting room for a sample, a pint, or a growler, they always have
something unusual on tap. They operate a 10 bbl system. Paradox is
currently brewing 20-30 bbl a week, but with demand increasing, they
could increase up to 50 bbl. Stop by for a sample and to chat with the
brewers.
