Spring 2016 LOCALadk Magazine 7 LOCALadk Pete PETE EVANS is an Adirondacker. He graduated from Town of Webb high school and went on to receive a BA degree from SUNY Geneseo in English and Philosophy. He also attended Paul Smiths College for Forestry. His work history includes construction laborer, camp caretaker, pizza (and/ or) prep cook, bus driver, bartender, janitor, roof shoveling, substitute teaching, dishwashing, forest products research assistant, ski area groomer, landscaper, and whitewater raft guide. Pete has been employed as a NYS Forest Ranger for the past 18 years. His hobbies include canoeing, kayaking, SUPing, hunting, skiing, fishing, camping, reading, Netflix binging, and most of all bicycle touring. He lives in Lake Placid with his wife Anne and their daughter Ellie. If he could give anyone advice about anything it would be to…BE SAFE, STAY HAPPY. ANGELA SMITH is a small business owner and certified business advisor with the NYS SBDC. Working with seasoned entrepreneurs and bright-eyed startups is a dream job. Her mission is to fight tenaciously to help her clients reach their goals and have an absolute blast on a daily basis while doing it. Angela has assisted hundreds of entrepreneurs with business plan preparation, market research, financial analysis, funding and other aspects of starting and operating a small business. Angela lives with her husband Todd in beautiful Keene Valley. Angela MELISSA HART is passionate about the Localist Movement, and enjoys gardening and preserving food, raising chickens and spending time outside. She's convinced the Adirondack region is the best place to live in the U.S. She recently launched her own small business, Bootstrap Communications, www.bootstrapcommunications.com, using her background in communications and marketing to help small businesses and nonprofits meet their goals. Drop her a line at hello.melissahart@gmail.com. Melissa JOSEPH T. MEIROSE IV is a Sackets Harbor/1000 Islands based full-time commercial, landscape, and luxury estate photographer. Growing up Joe studied film photography, theatre, and fine art at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in downtown Cincinnati. After chasing other dreams around the world, three years ago Joe returned to his creative roots and "Full Frame Works' Photography was born. When not on assignment Joe enjoys chasing his wife and two young children with a camera. Joe's full portfolio and accomplishments can be found at: www.fullframeworksphotography.com Joseph Tammy & Wynde WYNDE KATE REESE and TAMMY LOEWY met in 2001 while working at The Cliffhanger Cafe in Keene Valley. Sharing a passion for healthy, delicious food and love of the outdoors, they instantly became friends. In the spring of 2004 they started Green Goddess Foods, an organic and locally sourced prepared foods business. In 2007 they purchased the Natural Food Store in Lake Placid and changed the name to Green Goddess Natural Foods. In January 2013 they expanded and re-opened their store in its current location at 2051 Saranac Ave. The store now includes The Scape Cafe, Deli, and Catering Service. Reese holds a BS in Holistic Nutrition and offers nutrition counseling services, while Loewy manages the cafe and catering aspects of the business. The mission of Green Goddess is to provide healthy and delicious organic and local foods to North Country residents and vacationing customers.. DR. PJ PAPADAKOS is the Director of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Rochester. He is an internationally recognized expert in Trauma Management with five textbooks in the field. Through his work in trauma he has become interested in the field of electronic distraction. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post and has appeared on national television, addressing electronic addiction. PJ is a lifelong visitor to the Adirondacks and enjoys fly fishing, skiing and hiking. He maintains a home in Keeseville NY. Pj
