Summer 2016 LOCALadk Magazine 10 LOCALadk I could find. After this trip I continued my photography and in August of that year I had the idea of taking my pictures to the air. Drones were still relatively new and extremely differ- ent from my camera. When I got my first drone it opened up a whole new arena; video from the air above and it offered breath taking images that one could never forget. I started a filming business, Falcon Filming. The goal was to provide dif- ferent aspects and perspectives of film. This has allowed me to fulfill my outdoor passion, and help fund my endeavors as a skier. As the two-year mark of Falcon Filming comes around I look back on an awesome adventure that has been filled with some amazing people who helped my small business dreams become a reality. I have learned that video can be extremely powerful in the world we live in and that is because film cre- ates a story that everyone can understand regardless of back- ground. The messages that can be displayed through these means are truly incredible. LOCALadk: What equipment do you use? Everett: I have an array of equipment and it seems to be ex- panding as my filming needs increase. I currently have a Pana- sonic GH4 which I use for tripod shots including pans, inter- views, and more high quality films, I have a DJI Phantom 3 Professional Drone which I use for my aerial shots, a gopro for more extreme shots, a gopro gimbal which allows me to shoot while moving (running along shot) and get it super smooth. Along with these I also have microphones, tripods, lenses, fil- ters, and much more. Perhaps my favorite type of shot is 96 frames per second slowed to 24 frames a second on my GH4, this shot is a slow motion show and with the GH4 it allows me to capture great quality shots at slow motion speed! LOCALadk: How much time do you spend in creating a 4-min- ute video? Everett: For a 4 min video it really depends on what kind of video it is. It can take as quick as 3-4 hours to film plus edit and as long as 8-10 hours of filming plus editing. Editing is pretty standard in what needs to be done once you get the hang of different types of video, it moves pretty smooth but I would say it is the more boring aspect of the project. Whereas film- ing offers exciting hands on, in the moment action that can be really fun! LOCALadk: What is your favorite subject to film and video? Everett: My favorite subject to film by far is my friends. I real- ly love the idea that in 20-40 years from now we can all look back on the amazing memories we have created. Each day can bring an awesome new adventure for us and to capture that experience and able to look back on what the true essence of living was for us is pretty special. What I like even more about filming with my friends is just the fun we have together, from the late night fires in the high country of Colorado or simply exploring our back yard of the Adirondacks through freshly fallen snow that blanket the Mountains; these aspects of our friendships will last a life time, but film that comes from those will last an eternity LOCALadk: describe your ideal Adirondack day Everett: A perfect day for me in the Adirondacks would in- volve canoeing and hiking. I would start the day off by canoe- ing deep into the forest through a slow moving meandering river that cuts through the Adirondack landscape. Next I would continue by hiking up a peak and gazing out over the beautiful land below. Following my hike I would set up camp on the shores of the flowing river and watch the stars rise up overhead while I sit by the warm camp fire. LOCALadk: Future plans? Everett: My plans for the future are currently very open. I would like to attend college on the East coast and ski com- petitively on the college circuit. I would also like to continue my filming and build my business to open even more doors for me. As for the rest I want to keep that open to anything new that might come into my life.
