9 Summer 2016 LOCALadk Magazine LOCALadk LOCALadk continues to be impressed and inspired by the many talented young people living here in the park. Our "Up and Comer" section of the magazine is one of the most pop- lar sections as per our digital analytics. We are committed to giving "a voice" to the young so they can share their passions, talents and hopes with all of us. We recently interviewed a young man from Morrisonville who has started his own business in film and video production. He shares his story and passion for the Adirondacks along with a few of his favorite photos and video links. LOCALAdk: Tell us a little about yourself Everett, your family, hobbies, and activites. Everett: My name is Everett Sapp, I am sixteen years old and live in Morrisonville, NY. I have one older sister who is current- ly attending college in Boston. My mother, Andree and father, Randy grew up in Tupper Lake, NY but they have also traveled the world to include living in Hawaii and Germany. This blend of Adirondack values accompanied with their worldly experi- ences has shaped me into the outdoor enthusiast that I am. I am a Nordic ski racer and a member of the NYSEF Ski Team. I compete around the country against some of the fastest peo- ple on snow in the nation. Skiing for me has been a lifelong journey; starting from the age of two I was gliding across the freshly fallen snow that always brought smiles to my face. With this love of skiing that has turned into a passion, I also believe it has allowed me to see other aspects of what nature has to offer. Whether it be the blustering snowy weather that blankets our Earth with a white covering or the crisp autumn air that bites into the array of colors that our trees cast across the Adirondack mountains. It is also the warm summer days where the lakes and rivers seem to call you to enjoy their fresh cool water. These aspects of the outdoors have encouraged me to explore them deeper and uncover the hidden myster- ies. Through my favorite activities of hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, and skiing I am able to see these magical things not only in the Adirondacks, but all over our country. LOCALadk: How and when did you become involved in pho- tography? Everett: My photography and film aspirations started official- ly two years ago but I believe the roots were planted much earlier. Ever since I was little I have had a sense of curiosity and that curiosity usually led to moments that I wanted to capture and share forever. Two years ago I embarked on a two week long river trip through the depths of the Grand Can- yon. Before we left my Aunt Mimi gave me an older camera to take photos of this once in a lifetime adventure. I gladly accepted the camera and shot over two thousand pictures on the trip! I was completely fascinated by all the different types of photos that one could take and was engaged in my own battle to get the best pictures I could of the coolest things Up and Comer: Everett Sapp Falcon Filming
