Jack Tammy & Wynde WYNDE KATE REESE and TAMMY LOEWY received the 2016 NY State Small Business Person(s) of the Year award as well as the NYS Business of Excellence award in 2010. They met in 2001 while working at a vegetarian restaurant in Keene Valley, and instantly became friends. Sharing a passion for healthy food and a love of the outdoors, they merged their expertise in 2004 by creating Green Goddess Foods. Pioneers of the Adirondack Farm to Table movement, they were vendors at the first Lake Placid Farmer's Market, where they sold prepared foods using seasonal ingredients to give consumers ideas on what to do with local produce. In 2007 they expanded into a brick and mortar business by opening Green Goddess Natural Foods in Lake Placid. In 2013, they expanded their offerings and reopened in their current location at 2051 Saranac Ave. The store includes a cafe, deli, nutrition counseling and catering services, and offers Veggiecation TM classes in local schools. Reese holds a BS in Holistic Nutrition and Loewy manages the cafe and catering departments. The mission of Green Goddess is to provide healthy and delicious local and organic foods to North Country residents and vacationing customers. Kim KIM RIELLY is the director of communications for the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), the destination marketing organization responsible for promoting a huge chunk of the Adirondacks. An almost- lifelong resident of the region, she grew up in Westport and now resides in Moriah with her husband Kevin Boyle and dog Katie. She enjoys paddling, hiking, cycling, motorcycling and skiing, and according to Instagram, taking selfies with her dog. But mostly, she's pleased and proud that it's her job to promote the amazing Adirondack destination experience for the economic benefit of those of us who are fortunate to call the region home.
