Spring 2018 LOCALadk Magazine 11 LOCALadk Shaun SHAUN KITTLE is a content developer for the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), the organization responsible for promoting a large portion of the Adirondacks. He grew up in Vestal, New York, and fell in love with the High Peaks when he first visited them about 20 years ago. Many years later Shaun and his wife, Anna, were married on Whiteface Mountain and are now the proud owners of a fixer-upper in Saranac Lake, which they share with their energetic dog, Belle. When Shaun isn't writing and editing for ROOST he's usually either reading, exploring the mountains, cooking, pounding nails, planning his next adventure, or writing music or playing drums for his band, Crowfeather. WYNDE KATE REESE and TAMMY LOEWY, owners of Green Goddess Foods in Lake Placid, stay busy with their multiple locations. Their Natural Market, Café & Deli offers organic groceries, a sit-down café, and catering services for events large and small. Their Market on Main St. offers a grab-and-go deli and salad bar, plus organic grocery options, and their Nordic Café, Bar, and Waffle Hut at Mt. Van Hoevenberg provides skiers with healthy food and drinks in the winter. When not enhancing the health of their community, Wynde and Tammy enjoy volunteering for Farm to School and Global Arts organizations and exploring in nature with their families. Tammy & Wynde OLIVIA DWYER is a freelance journalist based in Upper Jay, New York. She writes about outdoor recreation, mountain culture, and related environmental, economic, and social issues for publications such as Mountain, Backpacker, POWDER, REI's Co-Op Journal, SNEWS, Adirondack Life, and Adirondack Explorer. Olivia Freelance writer NORAH MACHIA and her husband, freelance photographer TONY MACHIA, enjoy hiking and paddling in the Adirondacks and relaxing at the cabin they built in Old Forge. They are both graduates of Syracuse University, and started coming to the Adirondack Park more than 20 years ago, with their children, for camping trips at Eighth Lake. They are five-year veterans of the Adirondack Canoe Classic, with Tony and his son Nick doing the paddling, and Norah carrying out the pit crew duties, along with son Kevin and daughter Katie. Norah & Tony NEIL LUCKHURST has bushwhacked all the ADK-100 highest peaks, including the 46. He has done back- to-back single season winter 46s and has also completed the 46 in 10 winter days. In 2017 he did Project Full Deck, a 15-day backpacking trip in which he mixed on and off-trail hiking. His hiking projects have succeeded in fundraising amounts greater than $20,000 for the ADK High Peaks Foundation. Neil MICHAEL ZEUGIN has been exploring the Adirondacks since age three, when he caught his first trout under the bridge to the Whiteface Base Lodge. His family first took summer camping trips, then after 1972 established a year-round camp in Wilmington. He has written about and photographed a range of outdoor activities for a number of sports publications. When not in the Adirondacks or traveling, Zeugin teaches writing and photojournalism for Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, respectively. His daughter, and beloved sidekick, Cassandra, is a lighting designer in New York City and for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Michael
